If "Hot or Not" rings a bell, then it is because it was a popular site launched in 2000. The website died years ago, but the concept has now been reinvented in a Hot or Not dating app, also known as Chat Date: Dating Made Simple to Meet New People.
Tons of potential hotties to choose from
Once signed in Chat Date: Dating Made Simple to Meet New People, you can scroll through countless photos of Hot or Not members. Just tap the Heart symbol at the bottom if you think they are "Hot" and the "X" symbol at the bottom if you think they're not. If someone you've 'hearted' hearts you back, a "Connection" is made, and you can then send messages to that person.
Each member can feature five photos and a brief bio that includes their age and the languages they speak. The profiles are Geo-matched to your current location, so most of them should be within around 100km of where you are. Be warned, though. Some of the photos in Hot or Not can be quite suggestive, although nudity is not allowed.
Based on your bio, the app tells you which of your Connections you have common interests with, how many friends in common you have (based on your Facebook friends list), and what their overall rating is from other connections they have made. If someone rates you as hot, you receive a notification of who it was, with a running total of how many members think you are hot stuff.
The problem with this app is that many of the profiles are inactive. After waiting 24 hours for a reply from some of my Connections, you might receive no response, as there is no clear indication whether a profile is real or not. So, although there seems to be an infinite number of members, getting in touch with them isn't easy.
Hot or Not revival
Chat Date: Dating Made Simple to Meet New People revives the classic Hot or Not concept in a modern dating app format. It offers a simple swiping system and location-based matching. However, the large number of inactive or questionable profiles can make it more challenging to establish meaningful connections. While entertaining to browse, users might need patience and realistic expectations when using the app.
